Italsk\u00e1 premi\u00e9rka Giorgia Meloniov\u00e1, dr\u017eitelka ceny v oblasti politiky, p\u0159ednesla kr\u00e1tk\u00fd, ale siln\u00fd projev v plynul\u00e9 angli\u010dtin\u011b. St\u00e1v\u00e1 se p\u0159edn\u00ed evropskou st\u00e1tnic\u00ed s jasn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed konzervativn\u00ed viz\u00ed ne\u017e Merz v N\u011bmecku nebo Macron ve Francii. Ale zat\u00edmco jsem poslouchal ji a ostatn\u00ed \u0159e\u010dn\u00edky, vzpomn\u011bl jsem si na t\u0159i n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bvy V\u011b\u010dn\u00e9ho m\u011bsta z m\u00e9 vzd\u00e1len\u00e9, v\u011btrem o\u0161lehan\u00e9 zem\u011b v severoz\u00e1padn\u00edm c\u00edpu Evropy, Islandu.   <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gudrid v Severn\u00ed Americe<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prvn\u00ed n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bvu uskute\u010dnila koncem 20. let 10. stolet\u00ed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bokafelagid.is\/products\/the-saga-of-gudrid\">Gudrid Thorbjornsdcera<\/a> (asi 980-1050), \u017eena se silnou v\u016fl\u00ed, podobn\u011b jako Thatcher a Meloni. Gudrid se narodila na z\u00e1padn\u00edm Islandu a koncem 90. let 9. stolet\u00ed emigrovala se sv\u00fdm otcem do Gr\u00f3nska (island\u0161tina nezn\u00e1 p\u0159\u00edjmen\u00ed, pouze k\u0159estn\u00ed jm\u00e9no a pak informaci o tom, \u010d\u00ed je kdo syn nebo dcera, nap\u0159\u00edklad Gudrid, dcera Thorbjornova, Einar, syn Benedikt\u016fv). Ve v\u011bku 27 let se Gudrid sezn\u00e1mila s islandsk\u00fdm obchodn\u00edkem Thorfinnem Thordsonem, kter\u00fd si ji vzal za \u017eenu. Na ja\u0159e roku 1008 se spolu s n\u011bkolika dal\u0161\u00edmi Gr\u00f3\u0148any rozhodli prozkoumat nov\u011b objevenou zemi na z\u00e1pad\u011b a pluli tam na \u010dty\u0159ech lod\u00edch. N\u00e1sleduj\u00edc\u00ed zimu se ubytovali v dne\u0161n\u00edm Fundy Bay (mezi Nov\u00fdm Brun\u0161vikem a Nov\u00fdm Skotskem), kde Gudrid porodila syna Snorriho Thorfinnsona, prvn\u00ed d\u00edt\u011b evropsk\u00e9ho p\u016fvodu narozen\u00e9 v Severn\u00ed Americe. V roce 1009 se Gudrid a Thorfinn rozhodli vyplout na jih a prozkoumat dal\u0161\u00ed \u010d\u00e1sti zem\u011b. Dorazili k dne\u0161n\u00ed \u0159ece Hudson, kde n\u011bjakou dobu z\u016fstali. Koncem roku 1010 se v\u0161ak osadn\u00edci st\u0159etli s n\u011bkter\u00fdmi domorodci. Uv\u011bdomili si, \u017ee v p\u0159\u00edpadn\u00e9m konfliktu budou m\u00edt velkou po\u010detn\u00ed p\u0159evahu, a proto se v l\u00e9t\u011b roku 1011 vr\u00e1tili do Gr\u00f3nska.        <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gudrid v \u0158\u00edm\u011b<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Po n\u011bjak\u00e9 dob\u011b se Gudrid a Thorfinn p\u0159est\u011bhovali na farmu na severu Islandu. Kdy\u017e Thorfinn zem\u0159el a jejich nejstar\u0161\u00ed syn Snorri se o\u017eenil, rozhodla se Gudrid vydat na pou\u0165 do \u0158\u00edma. Tam si mohla prohl\u00e9dnout mnoho dosud stoj\u00edc\u00edch pam\u00e1tek, nap\u0159\u00edklad And\u011blsk\u00fd hrad (p\u016fvodn\u011b c\u00edsa\u0159sk\u00e9 mauzoleum), Pantheon (p\u016fvodn\u011b \u0159\u00edmsk\u00fd chr\u00e1m) a Koloseum. Jako star\u00e1 \u017eena vypr\u00e1v\u011bla Gudrid, v t\u00e9 dob\u011b u\u017e nejzcestovalej\u0161\u00ed \u010dlov\u011bk na sv\u011bt\u011b, sv\u00fdm vnou\u010dat\u016fm p\u0159\u00edb\u011bhy ze sv\u00fdch cest. O necel\u00e1 dv\u011b stolet\u00ed pozd\u011bji byly tyto p\u0159\u00edb\u011bhy seps\u00e1ny na p\u0159\u00e1n\u00ed jej\u00edch potomk\u016f, kte\u0159\u00ed byli p\u0159edn\u00edmi c\u00edrkevn\u00edmi p\u0159edstaviteli.    <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">B\u00e1sn\u00edk p\u0159em\u00fd\u0161l\u00ed o \u0158\u00edmanech<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Druh\u00fd n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bvn\u00edk, b\u00e1sn\u00edk, pr\u00e1vn\u00edk a obchodn\u00edk <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com.br\/books\/about\/Harp_of_the_North.html?id=n-jUAAAAMAAJ\">Einar Benediktsson<\/a> (1864-1940), p\u0159ijel v roce 1903. Jednoho ve\u010dera, kdy\u017e st\u00e1l za soumraku u \u0159eky Tibery, slo\u017eil jednu ze sv\u00fdch nejzn\u00e1m\u011bj\u0161\u00edch b\u00e1sn\u00ed Ve\u010der v \u0158\u00edm\u011b: &#8222;Tich\u00e1 Tibera k mo\u0159i pomalu plyne. Zam\u00fd\u0161lel se nad d\u011bjinami \u0159\u00edmsk\u00e9 republiky a jej\u00edm \u00fapadkem v dob\u011b c\u00edsa\u0159stv\u00ed a dosp\u011bl k z\u00e1v\u011bru, \u017ee to, co z\u016fstalo cenn\u00e9, je kulturn\u00ed d\u011bdictv\u00ed. B\u00e1se\u0148 je pln\u00e1 metafor a p\u016fsobiv\u00fdch b\u00e1snick\u00fdch obraz\u016f. Dal\u0161\u00ed b\u00e1se\u0148 Einar slo\u017eil o sv\u00e9 n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bv\u011b \u0158\u00edma, Kolosea, kde kladl d\u016fraz na krutost p\u0159edstaven\u00ed v antick\u00e9m amfite\u00e1tru, kdy\u017e &#8222;zv\u00ed\u0159e a \u010dlov\u011bk sv\u00e1d\u011bli sv\u016fj souboj&#8220;.   <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In\u017een\u00fdr na pokraji slz<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">T\u0159et\u00ed n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bva pat\u0159ila v\u00fdznamn\u00e9mu politikovi a in\u017een\u00fdrovi J\u00f3nu Thorl\u00e1kssonovi (1877-1935), islandsk\u00e9mu premi\u00e9rovi v letech 1926-1927 a zakladateli konzervativn\u011b-liber\u00e1ln\u00ed Strany nez\u00e1vislosti, kter\u00e1 dlouho dominovala islandsk\u00e9 politice. V roce 1923 odjel se svou \u017eenou na pozdn\u00ed l\u00edb\u00e1nky do It\u00e1lie. O deset let pozd\u011bji se J\u00f3n jako starosta islandsk\u00e9ho hlavn\u00edho m\u011bsta Reykjav\u00edku z\u00fa\u010dastnil 6. \u010dervence 1933 ve\u010de\u0159e na po\u010dest italsk\u00e9ho mar\u0161\u00e1la letectva Itala Balba, kter\u00fd se na Islandu zastavil b\u011bhem transatlantick\u00e9 plavby. Balbo mluvil m\u00e1lo anglicky, a tak spolu hovo\u0159ili latinsky, kterou se oba nau\u010dili ve \u0161kole. J\u00f3n Balbovi vypr\u00e1v\u011bl, \u017ee p\u0159i sv\u00e9 n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bv\u011b \u0158\u00edma byl na pokraji pl\u00e1\u010de nad zk\u00e1zou, kterou \u010das nap\u00e1chal na b\u00fdval\u00e9m Forum Romanum.
