Iako sam tu knjigu predavao na satovima politi\u010dke filozofije na Sveu\u010dili\u0161tu Island 30 godina, moj pogled na nju se s vremenom promijenio. Priznajem da je Mill bio izvrstan, otvoren i upu\u0107en pisac. Ali je li njegov ugled ikone slobode zaslu\u017een?   <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sloboda izra\u017eavanja<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Najuvjerljiviji dio <em>Eseja o slobodi<\/em> je Millov argument za slobodu izra\u017eavanja: Ako je zabranjeno mi\u0161ljenje ispravno, ljudi su li\u0161eni mogu\u0107nosti da zamijene pogre\u0161ku za istinu; ako je pogre\u0161no, gube korist od razja\u0161njavanja i ja\u010danja istine u poku\u0161aju da je opovrgnu. Ovaj argument je svakako jo\u0161 uvijek relevantan. Tako\u0111er ga je rje\u010dito iznio Millov suvremenik, danski pjesnik NFS Grundtvig, koji je inzistirao da mora postojati sloboda za Lokija, lupe\u017ea, kao i za Thora, junaka. Ali moram napomenuti da je najva\u017enija sloboda za obi\u010dne ljude sloboda izbora zanimanja, robe i usluga na tr\u017ei\u0161tu, te zadr\u017eavanja \u0161to ve\u0107eg dijela svojih prihoda. Dru\u0161tvo nije debatni klub; to je borba za pobolj\u0161anje uvjeta nas samih i na\u0161ih obitelji.    <\/p><div class='related_content'><span>RELATED<\/span><ul><li><a href='https:\/\/www.theconservative.online\/hr\/otvorenost-mora-biti-pazljivo-tretirana'>Otvorenost mora biti pa\u017eljivo tretirana<\/li><\/a><li><a href='https:\/\/www.theconservative.online\/hr\/razgovor-sa-studentima-za-slobodu'>Razgovor sa studentima za slobodu<\/li><\/a><li><a href='https:\/\/www.theconservative.online\/hr\/danska-tradicija-slobode'>Danska tradicija slobode<\/li><\/a><\/ul><\/div>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Na\u010delo \u0161tete<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Millovo slavno na\u010delo \u0161tete tvrdi da je prisila opravdana samo kako bi se sprije\u010dila \u0161teta drugima. To je \u010desto kritizirano zbog nejasno\u0107e. Ne sla\u017eem se. Jasno je, na primjer, da bi na\u010delo \u0161tete dopustilo tvari koje izazivaju ovisnost, pod uvjetom da ne uzrokuju opasno pona\u0161anje; tako\u0111er bi dopustilo prostituciju. \u0160tovi\u0161e, posljedice zabrane tih aktivnosti vjerojatno su gore od posljedica njihovog dopu\u0161tanja. Ali problem s utilitaristi\u010dkim izra\u010dunima je taj \u0161to oni mije\u0161aju pohvalno i zao\u0161treno. Medicinska sestra i bludnica smatraju se onima koji proizvode korist. Vi\u0161e volim pristup svetog Tome Akvinskog. Tvrdio je da smo svi gre\u0161nici, ali da bi se zakon trebao baviti samo grijesima \u0161tetnim za druge, poput nasilja ili kra\u0111e. U praksi to vodi do ne\u010dega sli\u010dnog Millovom na\u010delu \u0161tete, ali klju\u010dna razlika izme\u0111u poroka i vrlina se zadr\u017eava.         <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pogre\u0161ka redistributivnog socijalizma<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mill je bio svjestan da utilitarizam ima svojih problema. U <em>Eseju o slobodi<\/em> napisao je da svoj slu\u010daj slobode temelji na trajnim interesima \u010dovjeka kao progresivnog bi\u0107a. Ovdje je bezbri\u017eno pre\u0161ao s maksimiziranja korisnosti &#8211; \u0161to je ono \u0161to utilitarizam predstavlja &#8211; na stvaranje uvjeta za ljudski prosperitet. Stoga sumnjam da ga se mo\u017ee nazvati utilitaristom. Tako\u0111er sumnjam da ga se mo\u017ee nazvati liberalom. U svojim <em>Principima politi\u010dke ekonomije<\/em> napravio je razliku izme\u0111u zakona proizvodnje i distribucije. Zakoni proizvodnje, u\u010dio je, nepromjenjivi su, za razliku od zakona distribucije, koji se mogu mijenjati, gotovo po volji. Ali to je pogre\u0161na razlika, jer raspodjela dohotka po izboru pru\u017ea nam nezamjenjive informacije o tome gdje se na\u0161e sposobnosti i vje\u0161tine najbolje koriste. Dakle, ona usmjerava proizvodnju. Me\u0111utim, redistributivni socijalizam uvelike ovisi o toj teorijskoj pogre\u0161ci.         <\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tko bi izabrao socijalizam?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">U svojim kasnijim spisima, Mill je smatrao da bi socijalizam mogao zamijeniti kapitalizam jer bi radni\u010dki kolektivi vjerojatno bili produktivniji od privatnih tvrtki. Bio je u krivu. Ali je naglasio da takvi kolektivi moraju biti dobrovoljni. U kapitalizmu ljudi, naravno, mogu odabrati socijalizam za sebe, a ne za druge. Zanimljivo je pitanje koliko bi ih to u\u010dinilo.
