When the South grows, Italy grows, Europe grows

Culture - August 29, 2023

The next ECR Party European Culture Weekend event will take place between the 1st and the 3rd of September in Scilla, Calabria, Italy.

As it has become a habit, ECR Party representatives have chosen for the 5th event of the European Culture Weekend conference series a beautiful location in southern Italy. Why Italy? Why southern Italy? Because when the South grows, Italy grows and of course Europe grows too.

It is well known that Europe is at a crossroads, which is precisely why the ECR Party’s agenda has never been more relevant than now to the idea and need to implement a reform of the European Union. A European Union in which the centre-right values of individual freedom, national sovereignty, respect for private property, free trade between states, family values and the transfer of power are a priority for those who lead the Member States.

This is why the ECR Party thought it appropriate that, within the framework of the European Culture Weekend project, a project partly funded by the European Parliament, the challenges and opportunities for European regulation and collaboration in the fields of trade and transport infrastructure, agriculture and innovation in the health sector should be addressed and debated during the 3-day conference in Scilla, Italy.

In a beautiful Mediterranean landscape and historical landmarks of major importance for the history of Europe as only in Calabria can be found, the participants of the event will have the opportunity to meet politicians, members of the European conservative family, and discuss with them the latest topics in the field of European transport infrastructure, agriculture and, last but not least, topics concerning innovation in the public health sector.

As mentioned earlier, the location chosen by the organisers is Scilla, where participants will enjoy a warm welcome and the opportunity to relax in the Altafiumara Resort & Spa, the host of the conference. Altafiumara Resort & Spa is one of the largest resorts in southern Italy nestled in the wonderful landscape of the Costa Viola, a unique position that makes it not only perfect for relaxing, but also an ideal starting point for living an experience in the heart of the Mediterranean. From the Altafiumara Resort it is possible to enjoy a magnificent panorama, a dance of colors unique in the world, with the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands and the two active volcanoes in the background: Etna and Stromboli.

The programme of the event organised by ECR Party will start Friday, September the 1st, with a Visit of the National Museum of Magna Grecia and the Bronzi di Riace statues, followed by an aperitif on the terrace overlooking the city. Also, on the first day of the European Culture Weekend conference in Scilla, participants will enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the Altafiumara Resort where they will be able to socialise in a less formal setting with European Conservative leaders.

Saturday will be dedicated to political debates. The four panels of the day will discuss interesting topics such as European transport policy, green agriculture, health innovation and last but not least Mediterranean policy, with the Port of Gioia Tauro as an economic hub.

Panel I: “European transport policy. Strategic infrastructures and Bridge over the Strait”

Panel II: “Agriculture, Green economy and enhancement of Territories”.

Panel III: “Innovation, biotech to develop virtuous models in the medical and health field”

Panel IV: “Mediterranean Policy: Port of Gioia Tauro economic hub in the heart of Europe”.
