Parental Consent for Sex Education in Schools: A Victory for Common Sense

Legal - June 19, 2026

The progressive left is offended by just about everything the conservative right stands for, and the teaching of sexuality education in schools is definitely one of their “hot” topics. This is quite obvious: sexuality education has become a Trojan horse for “gender” ideology. The justifications are the same: preventing unwanted pregnancies, promoting proper hygiene, and combating “gender-based” violence. What is truly at stake is the push for the absurdities of so-called “gender identity,” unrestricted sexual relations, and premature sexualization. This is why this sex education has become a very dangerous Trojan horse. All of this – in the name of a deceitful ideology aimed at corrupting minds and replacing what is normal with something completely abnormal and destructive.

When more and more young people identify as “non-binary” or “fluid,” when the concepts of “man” and “woman” are redefined and distorted in countless ways, this is not merely about a generation that is increasingly confused and unstable, but also about a steadily growing rejection of values and what is natural.

However, there is some truly positive and inspiring news coming from Italy.  Due to a bill recently passed by the Senate, strongly supported by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Italian Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara, parents will be required to give their prior consent regarding the sexuality education lessons taught to their children. Parents will have at least seven days to agree – or disagree – with any sex education program that is to be taught. At the same time, they will be informed – so they can make an informed decision – regarding the names of the individuals or organizations that will be directly involved in teaching, the materials they will use, and the expected outcomes. Under this law, parental consent has become mandatory in Italian middle and high schools, while the teaching of sex education has been completely banned in preschools and elementary schools.

Will schoolchildren be deprived of access to basic information if sexuality education is taught only under certain conditions, or if it is completely banned in preschools and elementary schools? Or does this mandatory consent actually serve as a measure that protects the innocence of young children and strengthens the authority of parents, who are the only ones truly responsible for their own children’s education?

This is certainly not about restricting access to information on human reproduction or disease prevention, or about healthy education. The crucial objective of this bill is to block the spread of gender-identity propaganda, which uses sex education classes to promote its own absurd and manipulative theories. In other words, to protect children from a demonic ideology. A vital objective.

From a constitutional point of view, the situation is as clear as can be. It is the right and duty of parents to support and educate their children, as expressly stated in the Constitution of the Italian Republic. When the Italian government asserts that sexuality education in Italian schools can be taught only with parental consent, this is a measure fully in line with the letter of the Constitution, but above all with the natural order of things. Prime Minister Meloni and the Minister of Education and Merit are simply acting in accordance with a constitutional principle; unlike the progressive left, which believes the state should decide what children should think about sexuality and morality and that parents have no right to intervene in a matter directly related to the education and development of their own children. This shows just how lacking in reason the leftists are and how little they care about biological reality, the family, or future generations.

No matter how loudly critics may object, no matter how much they invoke so-called “standards” or “progress,” the “Valditara bill,” promoted by Italy’s conservative government, is a victory for common sense and a return to sanity, a victory against “woke” activism that seeks to use schools as platforms for indoctrination. Italian parents have achieved a historic victory: to protect the innocence of children, basic parental authority, and to eradicate the scourge of gender propaganda. We need as many victories like this as possible.
