Statement by Nicolae Ștefănuță European Parliament Vice-President
The immediately recognizable blue and yellow has gained a special meaning in the entire world. You see people wearing it not only out of solidarity to a nation, but as a symbol towards liberty, towards the rejection of war, towards the embracing of freedom. And I would say that I would like one day this blue to represent something more: to represent the Union, to represent the European Union. The fact that Ukraine will become a member of the Union.

Statement by Michael McGrath European Commissioner for Democracy
«It is a great honor to stand among those supporting the people of Ukraine in their heroic resistance to Russia’s full-scale war of aggression. And today’s ceremony carries particular symbolism. To be present here in front of the European Parliament, in this democratic theater, the unfurling of your flag on your National Flag Day is a demonstration of your steadfast commitment to democracy, to independence, and to the right of the Ukrainian people to determine their own sovereignty.
